Mens Skin Care FAQ's

Posted by Chanel Dankert on

Guys, skin care needn't be overwhelming, complicated or ignored!

Our team has put together a few FAQ's we get from you cool dudes around South Africa, and we've answered them to show you how important & simple skin care can be.

"My skin looks good, do I really need to use skin care products?"

Caring for skin is crucial to everyone’s health. Healthy skin not only looks good and stays looking good longer, but it also helps keep us free of diseases and infections, it boosts blood circulation, regulates body temperature, helps filter out toxins and nourishes the skin.

Well-nourished skin is healthy skin. Poor skincare habits can lead to acne, sores, rashes, and wrinkles.

"Can't I just use the same soap for my hair, balls & face?"

Time is precious, and so is simplicity. But here's a skincare secret: your face is picky. It craves specialised care, like our Detox & Balance Cleanserdesigned to pamper your face with the attention it deserves.

"What is a simple skin care routine I can start doing?"

Step 1: Wash your face

With clean hands splash your face with warm water then apply a small amount of Detox & Balance Face Cleanser and gently rub in circles. Rinse off and pat dry.

In the mornings you don't need a thorough face washing outside of your normal showering routine. If you experience specific skin care issues that require attention in the morning it's fine to do it then, but we see more benefits at the end of the day when you return from work or go to bed.

Step 2: Moisturise

Once you've washed your face apply a pea sized amount of Face-Food Day Balm onto slightly damp skin to lock in moisture.

Step 3: Protect

Apply a layer of Face~Mineral SunscreenInfused with indigenous, active rooibos & aloe ferox, banishing free radicals with their rich anti-oxidant properties, keeping your skin well nourished, hydrated & protected from those UV Rays!

"My skin is oily, do I need to use face cream?"

Although it may be tempting to avoid moisturising if you have oily skin, it's important to keep your skin hydrated to protect that skin barrier.

If you skip out on regular moisturising or try to dry out excess sebum by using oil-stripping products or over-exfoliating your skin, it can do more harm than good.

In fact, overly dehydrated skin can trigger your skin to produce more oil to compensate, leading to more clogged pores and acne breakouts.

So yes, oily skin does need moisture.

"Which products should I use for oily or acne-prone skin?

"Which products should I use for dry or ageing skin?"

Calming Face Toner: Use after washing face or shaving. Witch hazel & rose water help to tighten and tone the capillaries just below the skin, as well as to reduce redness and sooth irritated skin. Witch hazel however, contains volatile oils, resins and numerous photo-chemicals including tannins which are powerful antioxidant compounds that help to neutralise free radicals, preventing them from damaging the skin. This combination is especially valuable for dry, sensitive and ageing skin.

Repairing Fynbos Mask: Use once a week. Honeybush & rooibos, both filled with anti- oxidants & high in vitamins & minerals (zinc) provide anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial & anti-ageing properties. Aloe ferox hydrates & assists with healing damaged skin.

CBD Anti-Ageing Night BalmApply in the evenings to allow healing properties to get to work over night. Wrinkles, excess oil, redness in skin, impurities, scaring.

"What can I use on my face after I shave to reduce redness & irritation?"

Spritz our Calming Face Toner onto your skin after shaving to cleans, calm, hydrate & tighten the skin. It can do everything alcohol-based aftershaves do without drying your skin out.

Whenever you shave, your pores open up big time because of all the heat and moisture that gets applied. But once you’re done shaving, you don’t want them to stay open because that can lead to acne, blackheads & whiteheads. Applying this toner after you shave will help keep your pores nice and clean & bacteria-free. If you’ve got any small shaving cuts or abrasions, the Witch Hazel found in the Calming Toner can also help stop the bleeding.

Navigating skincare shouldn't be a maze. Keep it simple, keep it Back 2 Nature. 🌿
